What
is the difference between a 3-year, 7-year and
Complete driving record?
Three-year
and seven-year driving records
contain your driving convictions and notices
for the past three or seven years as well as
convictions reported to the State DMV by other
states within those time frames. However, on a
three or seven-year report Florida does not
display a violation, suspension, accident or
other charge if you were found not guilty, if
the charge was dismissed, or if adjudication was
withheld. If you received a ticket and then
went to driving school to have the points
removed from your record the infraction is
considered "adjudication withheld" by
the Florida DMV and the infraction will NOT
appear on your three-year or
seven-year Florida report.
Notice:
If you want to see all traffic
infractions, including those where you attended
traffic school to keep points off your license,
you will need to order a complete record.
A complete driving
record will contain all driving
infractions and correspondence from the Florida
DMV for the past 11 years. If the Florida DMV
has received infractions reported by other
states, it will include those infractions.
Certain serious infractions such as DUI's
may remain longer than eleven years.

Why
doesn't a recent traffic ticket I received
appear on my driving record?
The Florida Department of
Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV)
updates your driving record after
disposition of the ticket. The
information is reported to the DMV after you
have either paid the fine, attended a Florida
driving school, or a settlement is reached with
the court on a contested ticket. The law
enforcement agency that issed the ticket is
required by Florida law to provide the ticket
information to the the County Clerk of the Court
within 5 working days. The Clerk of the Court
then has 10 working days, from the date of
disposition, to report this information to the
DMV. After receipt of the information it may
take the DMV several days to input the data in
their database of records. A non-contested
ticket can take 30-60 days to appear on your
record. A contested or out-of state ticket may
take several months to appear.

I received
a traffic ticket and attended traffic school to
avoid having the points on my license. Why is
the ticket not displayed when I get a copy of my
three-year or seven-year driving record?
Florida does not display driving infractions on a three or seven-year
report if you were found not guilty, the
charge was dismissed, or adjudication was
withheld. If you received a ticket and then went
to driving school to have the points removed
from your record the infraction is considered
"adjudication withheld" by the Florida
DMV and the infraction will not appear on your
three-year or seven-year Florida report. If you
need to see all traffic infractions
including those where you attended traffic
school, you will
need to order a complete record.
A complete driving record
contains all driving infractions and
correspondence from the Florida DMV for the
past 11 years. If the Florida DMV has received
infractions reported by other states it will
include those infractions. Certain
serious infractions such as DUI's may remain
longer than eleven years.
